Ding Dong

While reading my paper and having a cup of coffee this morning, my dog, Diva, begins to bark. I look up towards my front door and see someone opening my screen door. Diva is going wild (company! company) and then the door bell rings.

I have not had any visitors since this isolation, safer at home, stay the ‘F’ at home thing started. So, some random people coming to my door is a bit disconcerting. My first thought is, Jehovah Witnesses, they know I’m home. Do I answer the door, I make the mistake of yelling at Diva to stop barking, they know I’m home. (music from Jaws begins to play in my head)

I wander over to the door and look out the side window. Hmmm. Two older gentlemen. No mask, NOTHING! I hold my hands up in the universal sign for WHAT? (in this case it is more, what the hell?)

The taller man answers: “We’re here to pick up some flooring.”

Okay, I put on my mask that I keep near the front door, crack it open a tad and answer, “Excuse me?”

“I said we are here for the flooring.”

“What address do you have?” He responds with my address.

“That is this address but I don’t have any flooring. Do you have a phone number to call? Or is it possible that it is either another number or a different direction? North, South, East or West?”

“Uh,I don’t have a phone number, I guess I can go check. Sorry to bother you.”

“Good Luck, hope you find it.”

Now I could have said:

  1. Look you dumb bastards, where’s your mask, where are your gloves? Now I have to wipe down my door handles and my door bell.
  2. Do you realize that you are in the age group that is susceptible to this Covid-19 virus? What are you doing out with no protections?
  3. Listen Asshats, get off my property and go home. Put on some gloves and a mask and then go out looking for your flooring. If not for yourself, do it for the other endangered people out there! What about your family? Do you want them to get sick, or are you such a macho idiot that you think you can’t possibly get sick!

GET A GRIP.

We may not all be in the same boat but we sure as heck are all in the same storm.

Get your shit together and BE AWARE of others.

Okay, that’s the end of my rant for today.
