Inquiry # 365: What’s YOUR title???

What started me down this path? Well, while reading the newspaper, I ran across an article about a ‘Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician’: CPS. Yes. There is such a thing. AND you can get certified to be one in all 50 states. It is a national certification program. Not sure what the pay scale is for a title like this. I believe it is an add on title. If you have the certification and you are a nurse, this would be useful at a hospital as the families are discharged with a  new baby. No way can this be a full time job.

The responsibilities of a  CPS are as follows;  education as to the proper installation of car seats. Proper technique to secure the child in the seat. The technician can also assist the parent/caregiver with decisions if the seat needs to be replaced. If the seat is no longer usable, instructions are given how to properly dispose of the seat to prevent future use.

Who Knew????

After researching the CPS title, I thought about other titles and what duties or expectations they might entail.

Sometimes I hold the title of  SHE.  Yup, you read that right. Sidetracked Home Executive. That’s me! SHE does it all with little time left over for those pesky little household chores. That’s why I eventually had someone helping me clean my house. I like the title and it doesn’t need to only apply to housecleaning. The Home Executive handles the laundry, cooking, shopping, child care etc. It is a BIG job and one can be easily distracted with all that is involved in family and home life.

CCO: Chief Celebrations Officer. What fun. Decorations, food selection, scheduling, lots to do when one holds this title. Some of the duties of this title include party and event planning for the office/home. A CCO could be enjoyable and, if you are the controlling sort, look at all that one is overseeing. POWER.

CA: Communications Ambassador. Sounds very important. In charge of Communication and being an Ambassador, a tactful emissary or messenger. Booster of morale and provider of accurate, up to date information. Social Media specialist. Duties entail keeping Facebook, Twitter and Linked in current. Overseeing the Newsletter and Calendar of Events.

CC: Culture Champion. This title is mostly found in the Human Resource department. We could all benefit with one in our personal lives. The duties include: ensuring sustenance of values and positive environment is achieved. Can you imagine your own CC at the ready to remind you about your ‘mission statement’, values and being positive?

EA: Enrichment Advocate. I definitely want to meet and consult with one of these. Who knows what safety hazards I might have been overlooked? Enrichment of any kind is always appreciated. Not sure if this title has the power to enrich one’s paycheck though. Duties are to ensure benefits, training, safety and improving conditions and perks.

FM: Facilities Manager or ME: Maintenance Engineer. This fun job is really Janitor with a fancy title. Duties include cleaning the bathrooms, mopping/sweeping floors, emptying trash and maintaining the general cleanliness of the office or facility. In addition, Keep the lunch area clean and often time make the coffee and cleaning up after others. Not a fun job in my opinion. But it does sound fancy.

AA: Administrative Assistant or Administrative Associate. Basically a secretary. Does all the normal office stuff but has a nicer (?) ring to it than the old term, secretary.

Not sure if any of these exist but they sound like fun.

AE: Adventure Escort. An Adventure escort is along to guide, safeguard and ensure a good time when stepping out of your comfort zone. They have a ‘been there, done that’ attitude as well as wanting to enjoy the journey.

FC: Fun Coach. A Fun Coach comes up with things to do, places to go to enrich the lives of others. They are fun to be around and bring joy and laughter with them. Hard to be glum when a FC is around.

After looking over all of these various titles, I don’t know which one would be more fun to have. I might just stick with SHE as that is what I do the most as of late.

Have fun, pick one of these titles or make one up.

  1. Lots of research went into this piece. Nicely done.

I guess my fun title would be LC or Laugh Coach for those who forgot what it’s like to laugh.

    Keep them coming, Fran.
