August

It’s August, again. I wonder, how does the year seem to go by so fast. Why, it feels as if I was just celebrating Mother’s Day with my kids!

August is a thoughtful time for me. It is a month of family as well as friends’ birthdays. I know it’s not quite August but it starts the ball rolling …July 31st; both my father-in-law and Tami (my daughter’s mother-in-law) celebrate. The next birthday is August 2, grandson Michael’s birth day and what a day that was. Next is August 8th, my husband’s day. The month marches on with friend after friend, a nephew, Leo’s all. Finally, August 28th is grandson Anthony’s birth day rounding out the month with a Virgo.

A wonderful memory is of a BIG party we had for Phil’s birthday on 8/8/88. What fun it was to plan. The invitations were problematic but Kathy and I persevered. Eights were around the border and even made up some of the words too. We had 8s everywhere! If you can recall the computers and software of the 1980’s, you will appreciate the task that was at hand. We worked on the invitation for weeks. I’ve never forgotten that one. AND August 8, 2018 was a fun reminder, another year ending in an 8.

August, the dwindling days of summer. Hot days and Lazy days. Time to fill the few remaining SUN days with all the things we forgot to do and make plans for. You know, One of these days, make that trip to the museum. One of these days, go fishing at the lake,. One of these days, takethat weekend camping trip.

As we head into fall, it time for Back to School, High School/College and Pro Football on TV, Yellow School Buses around the corner left and right, and Pumpkins, Ghosts and Goblins. The leaves begin to turn. Autumn is in the air.

Don’t gently settle in to Autumn. Make “One of these days” Today or Tomorrow. ‘Fall’ into your tomorrows with promise and plans. I want to hear all about them. One of these days…
