Hmmm, What does that mean?

I volunteered to help my friend with a project at her office. It will take a while to complete. On my first visit to her new office a couple of gentlemen, who introduced themselves as Jack and Jim, stopped in to say hello and welcome to the building. They joked around for a bit and then left. A little bit later they both came back and explained that ‘Fabio’ brings food at lunch time and has a variety of items from which to choose.

Sure enough, ‘Fabio’ (no, NOT the longed haired guy from the book covers and TV ads) poked his head in the door and recited his menu. My friend already had lunch so there was no need to hear his offerings that day. One of the earlier gentlemen, Jack, came by with his lunch to show us the meal he purchased, Chicken Parmesan with pasta and vegetables. It certainly looked good.

I was back at the office a few days later and Jack stopped by. He asked if he could have one of the cough drops from the candy bowl on the front desk. ‘Of course’ I replied.

Jack explained that he had a bit of a cough and hoped the drops might help. “Come by any time” I replied, “They’ll be here if you need them.”

I was at the office again and he stopped in. This time he said “Hey you better get home to the Hubs, he’s going to wonder what’s taking you so long.”

I laughed and Jack chuckled and said “That was an evil laugh.” Which caused me to laugh even more.

I wonder, could this be flirting? It’s been a long time. I think maybe I need to do some research. . .

Results of my research . . .

Flirting for Women of a certain age

1. Women, we should keep an eye on a man’s torso.

Apparently, they point their torso toward the most important thing in the room. If it ain’t at you, you are not IT for him.
Hmmmm,Jack has stood and faced me most of the times he has come into the office.

2. Humor, if he laughs easily, he is comfortable with you. No off color jokes now, keep it clean.

Jack does chuckle and laugh when he stops by.

3. Compliment him. Women aren’t the only ones that like a nice word or two. Make it a sincere compliment though.

I did tell Jack that he had a nice Murse (man purse) the last time I saw him.

4. How close is he to you? The closer he stands or sits, the more interested in you. Pay attention if he moves closer, a sure sign he is interested, if he turns and runs uh, not so much.

Interesting, Jack has come further into the office. Would that count as getting closer?

Well, dang, I think that Mr. Jack may have been flirting.

Am I ready for flirting? Dating?

A relationship?

Oh my, am I?

Guess it’s time to brush up on my flirting skills.

I’ll let you know the outcome next time I’m at my friend’s office.

to be continued . . .
